Educational groups with children at a children’s home In a letter from the lecturer of the Department of Psychology and Social Work at UNAM, Ms J. Ananias, I was asked at the end of July to enable 4 Social students in their second study year to do their practical training at Maggie’s Sunhouse during August/September.
In the week before Palm Sunday I started telling our children in Maggie’s Sunhouse about the Easter event, traditions and customs in Europe, expressing the joy, the liveliness and the high spirits of this coming event. The Easter Bunny, even in Namibia, comes to the children to spread joy.

Angel, born in Namibia on 2nd of May 2004, is the child of Ugandian parents. Shortly after his birth the mother became liable to prosecution and has been sentenced to 7 years of prison. While the mother, when going into prison, kept the baby with her, the father left for Uganda. Ever since there has not been any contact.
On 27.11.2006 a camera team of WDR Studio Dortmund (Germany ) visited Maggie’s Sunhouse. Besides shooting a film in- and outside of Maggie’s Sunhouse WDR editor Cornelius Dally had a short interview with the leader of the house, Maggie Nölting.
The Governing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, on a visit in Maggie’s Sunhouse

Within the scope of partnership between the towns Berlin and Windhoek the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, stayed in Namibia from 26. November to 2. December 2006. His program included the visit to Maggie’s Sunhouse in Windhoek on 27th of November.

Visiting Maggie’s Sunhouse a second time on 27 of October 2006, Mr Jürgen Becker gave us a surprising message. The board of the German-Namibian Society decided to take up Maggie’s Sunhouse in its program of projects being worthy of support in Namibia.
On the 1st of August 2006 Maggie’s Sunhouse officially has been registered with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Windhoek / Namibia as a Place of Safety for orphans and other vulnerable children ( OVC s ). Now it will be supervised and protected by the Ministry.
Action "Children paint for Children" - an advertisement for Maggie’s Sunhouse

After proper forward planning during the rainy season in the months of March and April things had come to a point. 15 of my former Grade 7 learners from Delta School Windhoek and their arts teacher anxiously looked forward to the special action „Children paint for Children“. On Tuesday, 13th of June we met in the school premises.
German-Namibian Society in Berlin-Brandenburg supports Maggie’s Sunhouse with nearly N$ 15.000,00

The year 2006 started with a joyful surprise concerning the work on our projekt. From Berlin we received the message that DNG will support our project Maggie’s Sunhouse with a donation of 2000 Euro (N$ 14.700,00).
